2015: Delta State Speaker, Ochei, Charges Ughelli PDP on Unity

ASABA – THE Speaker of Delta State House of Asembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei has called on members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ughelli-South Council Area to be united and work hard to win back aggrieved members who had jumped ship and ensure that the party structure translate to electoral victory in future elections.
Ochei made the appeal on Monday in Asaba while playing host to members of the Ughelli-South Concerned Group of the PDP led by Chief John Ewenede.
The Speaker who spoke glowingly of the Group rubbished reports that the group was dead.
According to him. “I heard that the group was dead but what I see is that the group is alive contrary to reports I got, I want to commend you for weathering the storm, you cannot have a better structure than this.”
“I want you to translate this structure to victory, I want to see the party glory in the area. I urge you to go and win back to the fold our aggrieved brothers no matter which party they have gone to because we want a better PDP.
“I am proud of what you did during the flood, if all groups did like you, the pressure would have reduce on government, I thank you for recognising that we all share the vision of oneness that any individual can aspire to any position irrespective of his ethnic grouping.”
Olorogun John Ewenede, Chairman, Concerned Group in his opening speech reminded the Speaker that his group is the only political group that had deliver electoral victories in the area since 1999 and promised to do more come 2015.
In his words, “One point is clear, the Concerned Group has stand tall since 1999, we have been able to put in place an institution for churning out good leaders. We have been branded with all sort of names, we are not dead just that we refuse to shift ground and remain resolute against blackmail by some people we help to enthrone.
“We have been marginalised but we are in the trenches and battle ready for 2015. We are PDP members and we stand firm, prepare yourself for the battle ahead, we are out for victory.
Earlier, Dr. Matthew Kwode commended the leadership of the Speaker and his support for Olorogun Talib Tebite, Member representing Ughelli-South and calls for greater unity amongst them.
Kwode noted that Concerned Group is in a steady drive in making PDP stronger in Ughelli-South, maintaining that past electoral successes were accrueable to the group. He boasted that his group is the only force in the area.
Dr. James Omorovwon, Chief James Shaguolor, Chief Simon Duku, Chief Samuel Buluku, Chief Moses Orhokpor, Chief Sito, Princess Eguono Ogbon, Mr. Godspower Muemuifo, Chief Augustine Adjo, Chief Godwin Sito, Mr. Richard Ebrobota, and Mr. Joseph Uhawha, were some dignatories present in the visit.
